Integrated phone calendar access on Android Auto, allowing users to view their daily calendar while providing essential functionalities like navigation and calling to events.

Opportunity and Problem: 

Drivers needed a safe way to access calendar events without using their phones. The Android Auto team aimed to define features for a seamless in-car experience.

My Role:  

As the design lead, I guided the project from inception to launch. I collaborated closely with the product manager for definition and worked with a small team of designers, researchers, and engineers on design direction and execution.

Process Highlights:

Our primary challenge was identifying which phone features to optimize for in-car use. I facilitated knowledge gathering through expert consultations and product audits, which helped us create a meaningful feature set. I developed prototypes and worked with researchers to test our hypotheses with users early in the process. As a result of our efforts, the Calendar app was successfully launched and well-received by users, with a healthy backlog of features to be developed based on further user feedback.
